Labi-labi station, Desa Keudah Banda Aceh
It perhaps a
bit confuses you when hearing the words “labi-labi”. Labi-labi is one of public
transportations in Aceh. Labi-labi means turtle that we know it moves slowly.
I’ll tell you some informations about the kind of the labi-labi, the directions
it goes through, etc. My purpose in making this post is to pass the subject
photography.

I’ll inform
you about the labi-labi in Banda Aceh. Someday when you probably travel to
Banda Aceh, you can take labi-labi to get you to several public attractions in
the city. It operates everyday from Monday to Sunday and starts at 07.00 in the
morning till an unspecified time, depends on whether there’s still fares or
not, but it usually stops at 22.00.

The place on
pictures above is located in front of Istana Kado (a well-known store selling
household appliances) near Mesjid Raya Baiturrachman Banda Aceh. This labi-labi
stops here for couple minutes waiting for fares. I interviewed one of its
drivers, he said that they stops there in order to ease the fares that brings
the groceries, to get the labi-labi.
The directions
given are varied so you can choose the direction to get you to the place you
want. To get to the west side of the city, you can go to labi-labi station that
located in Keudah. You can take one with direction to Lhoknga, a place which is
well-known with its beautiful beaches.
You also can
reach the east side of the city (Krueng Raya) by labi-labi. In there you can
visit the harbour, many tourists come here. Besides, there’s fishing area,
white-sand beach, and many other good places. It only needs about 30 minutes to
be arrived in Krueng Raya from the station. You can visit Pantai Ujong Batee
which is located 3 kms before the Krueng Raya Harbour. It is 1 kms after the
harbour there is a temple which used to be a place where Aceh’s people resist
the Dutch anchored into Indonesia mainland.
